Abundant Fishlife of Cozumel, Mexico
Diving and snorkeling are world-class in Cozumel, Mexico, where the sparkling blue water of the Caribbean are brimming with sealife in a rainbow of colors. Enjoy diving and snorkeling all year around in the warm tropical water. Cozumel's vast reef system was discovered decades ago by Jacque Cousteau. It has been designated a national underwater park in order to preserve the fragile beauty of this incredible reef system. Here's are just a few examples:

Barracuda are common in Cozumel and you'll find them on both deep and shallow dives. They seem to have a curiosity about divers and often come for a closer view. Don't worry . . . they look more threatening they they really are.
These big guys are groupers and they like to hang around divers. Do be careful reaching out . . . they may not be able to tell your finger from a tasty sausage. You'll see grouper on deep dives and shallow dives, as well.
Sea turtles are abundant in Cozumel and you'll find them mostly on the deep dives toward the southern end of the island. Cozumel has a sea turtle protection program providing these amazing creatures with TLC as soon as eggs are laid, and continuing after they are hatched and released to the sea.
Here a grunt, there a grunt, everywhere a grunt, grunt. You don't usually see these fish alone . . . they run in schools and are plentiful in the waters of Cozumel.
